Lost Again

Well, my newer-found confidence in being able to get around Alameda was shaken yesterday. I was going to a class that UC Davis Extension was putting on, zigged when I should have zagged, and ended up going by ayse's house. She, most happily, was in and directed me where I needed to go.

Had I been coherent enough to look it up on Mapquest, I would have realized that I knew exactly how to get there, because I had been out there for meetings before. I wouldn't have gone the way that was described, though.

The class - which was about food safety training for community volunteer organization - was very informative and entertaining. We did an exercise where we put flourescent lotion on our hands and then tried to wash our hands well. Even after scrubbing, I had glowing "webbing" and fingernails! We got schwag, too, including a mini thermometer which we calibrated.

I went by Casa Decrepit again to chat with Ayse, see the progress on the garden, be schnorgled by the animals, and talk with her about her upcoming appearance in the Chron.

Now to clean up the house, which is being constantly rearranged by Lucy ...

Hey, it was good to be of assistance. Yesterday's theme was "helping your friends and neighbors." Today's theme was "jamming your fingers in painful places." Yesterday's was better.

Sounds like a busy day. Next time we are together, I'd love to hear more about what you learned in class.

Sometimes I audit the food science classes at school. It all comes down to: "You're grosser than you think."

That's a fair summary.
