I'm still around

I feel a lot better, although the office stress can still get to me some times. I have been crazy busy at work, spent most of last weekend away from the house, and started EFM on Monday. Last night I gibbered. There's lots going on, but I just haven't been blogging much.

I'm going to try both meditating and cooking tonight (probably not in that order) after I make sure my mortgage gets paid.

I'm glad you're feeling better.

What's the deal with EFM? Considering the collar?

The "ministry" is meant as a general thing - the idea is that all the baptized members of the Church are called to some sort of work in the world - but that's an excellent question. The course is designed for lay people and is not meant as a commercial for going to seminary.

As to the ordained ministry - no call, and no messages from God on my answering machine ;-).

Oh, hon, I just read through your recent entries, and it sounds like you've been going through hell. I'm glad you're feeling better, and hope the upward trend continues. Please do call me if you need another sympathetic ear!

You know, cat_herder and I were just talking about how suited you are to the ministry, for any value of the above.

You will need to stop the hairdresser and work on cultivating a more frumpy feel to be a proper Anglican minister, though.

(one good userpic deserves another)

If I can't wear my quilted silk jacket I'm not up for it ;). I'm trying to walk a line between Frumpy and Trying Way Too Hard for My Age, suitable for a person of my years and station in life.

Most of my current ministry (and one of the reasons I like where I am is that they regard it as such, and not in a there-there-little-lady sort of way) involves covered dishes of some sort and/or toting my apron and knives around. Although I was about to call/mail you and ask for some formatting help in html for a tiny web page I'm attempting to throw together.

I think you should go the full Monty. I mean, the covered-dish and comfort style of ministry involves wearing pastels and you're not a pastels kind of gal. I do think you'd look faboo in all black with that white collar. Plus if you get ordained, I will join your flock. No women priests was one of the things that drove me out of Catholicism. Also, if you get ordained, I just *know* your robes will be some kind of neat quilted thingie.

BTW - Cute icon.

The clergy wear white albs during services at my church. It's the choir and the acolytes wearing the snazzy black cassocks (no clerical collar, to be sure).

Anyway, "I like the pretty clothes and my best friend will come to church" is soooooo not going to fly with the discernment committee. ;-)

They don't care what color I'm wearing when I cook. My goal is to become one of those old ladies who keep everything going, know where all the bodies are buried, and are held in great fear, erm, respect by all the members of the congregation, clergy included. (Clergy probably have special "dealing-with-the-old-ladies" classes at seminary.)

I'm glad you're feeling better! Paying the mortgage is definitely a good thing, but meditating sounds very cool. What sort do you practice?

*sheepish look* I didn't do either, or cook, but I did some yoga exercises, which made me feel better, and I did pay the bill in the morning before I went to work.

I am very new to the technique, so can't say I "practice" it just yet. I have a writeup, with links to the organization putting on the class and my comments on the experience, on the other Berkeley Farm Girl (aka "Berkeley Church Girl").

tnx for the update. Glad to know there's lots going on. Wouldn't want you hanging around doing nothing! The EFM looks like a wonderful experience.
